Sinopsis de ANTIGONE

"Antigone by Sophocles is a powerful tragedy that explores the conflict between individual conscience and state authority. Set in Thebes after a devastating civil war, the play begins with King Creons decree that Polynices, who fought against the city, must remain unburied as punishment for treason. Antigone, sister of Polynices, defies this order, believing that divine law and familial duty outweigh human legislation.
Determined and unyielding, Antigone performs the burial rites in secret. When discovered, she openly admits her act and refuses to repent. Creon, equally stubborn, insists on enforcing the law to maintain order and authority. The clash between these two uncompromising figures drives the tragedy forward.
As tensions escalate, warnings from the prophet Tiresias reveal that the gods disapprove of Creons actions. Realizing too late the consequences of his pride, Creon attempts to reverse his decision. However, tragedy unfolds: Antigone takes her own life, followed by Creons son Haemon and his wife Eurydice.
Through its intense moral conflict and emotional depth, Antigone examines themes of justice, loyalty, pride, and the limits of political power. Sophocles presents a timeless meditation on resistance, responsibility, and the tragic cost of inflexible conviction."
