Lynda La Plante nació en 1946 en Liverpool y actualmente reside en Londres, donde dirige su propia productora de televisión, La Plante Productions. Se formó como actriz en la RADA (Royal Academy of Dramatic Art) y su trabajo en el National Theatre y la Royal Shakespeare Company fue el anticipo de una larga carrera como actriz de televisión y como autora tanto de guiones como de novelas. Obtuvo su primer gran éxito con la serie televisiva Widows; posteriormente, su guión original de la famosísima serie Prime Suspect ganó el premio BAFTA, el British Broadcasting, el de la Royal Television Society Writers y, en 1993, el premio Edgar Allan Poe Writers y un Emmy por Prime Suspect 3. La Plante ha compaginado su carrera con la publicación de best-sellers internacionales como The Legacy, Bella Mafia, Entwined, Cold Shoulder, Cold Blood, Cold Heart y Royal Flush. LA DALIA ROJA es la segunda novela de una serie protagonizada por la detective Anna Travis.
