(Lodz, 1948) Es economista de profesión. Habla algunos idiomas extranjeros. En los años 1972-94 era trabajador del comercio exterior. En el año 1986 publicó su primero cuento El brujo (Wiedzmin) en un periódico polaco "Fantastyka". Dos años después fue elegido el mejor autor de cuentos polacos de fantasía en este periódico. Además Andrzej Sapkowski es el autor de tres colecciones de cuentos con el brujo Geralt: El brujo (Wiedzmin), La espada del destino (Miecz przeznaczenia) y El último deseo (Ostatnie zyczenia) así como de una saga de cinco libros: La sangre de los elfos (Krew elfow), El tiempo del desdén (Czas pogardy), Bautismo de fuego (Chrzest ognia), La torre de la golondrina (Wieza Jaskolki) y La dama del lago (Pani jeziora).
