(Viena, 1972) comenzó a escribir con 26 años, después de trabajar como taxista. Su primera novela Carl Haffners Liebe zum Unentschieden (El amor de Carl Haffners por el empate) fue elegida «Libro del Año» por el Daily Telegraph y traducida a varios idiomas. En 2001 su novela Der Kameramörder (El asesino con la cámara) ganó el premio alemán más importante de novela negra, el Friedrich-Glauser-Krimipreis.
