Luis Matilla (1938-2024), escritor, autor teatral y especialista en temas de imagen, tiene publicados numerosos artículos sobre pedagogía de los medios de comunicación. Durante diez años trabajó como ayudante de dirección en películas inglesas y norteamericanas rodadas en España. Como autor teatral supera la treintena de obras, muchas traducidas a otros idiomas. Ha sido reconocido en tres ocasiones con el Premio SGAE de Teatro Infantil y Juvenil por El árbol de Julia (2000), Manzanas rojas (2002) y El último curso (2008).
