Albert Sánchez Piñol (Barcelona, 1965) és autor de ficció, assaig i guions. La seva novel·la La pell freda és l’obra de ficció en català més traduïda de tots els temps. Com a novel·lista també és autor de Pandora al Congo, Fungus i El monstre de Santa Helena. Ha conreat el relat breu a Les edats d’or i Tretze tristos tràngols. La seva novel·la històrica Victus és l’obra més internacional sobre la Guerra de Successió i el 1714, i va ser objecte de censura per part de les ambaixades espanyoles. El seu penúltim llibre és l’assaig Les tenebres del cor, de temàtica africana, on relata les seves experiències amb els anomenats pobles «pigmeus».
