VICTORIA CIVERA: ATANDO EL CIELO

Painting and photography from Valencia-born artist Victoria Civera in this catalogue from a show at CAC Malaga. For more than 20 years Civera’s immersion into the depiction of womanhood has manifested in diverse work. Her expressionistic paintings often feature startling female forms against unlikely backgrounds, like rows of giant belts or views of night time deserts. The sly sexuality of these pieces, many on fold-out spreads in this book, is juxtaposed with the domesticity and serenity of much of Civera’s photography. With essays by Fernando Francés and Faye Hirsch and an extended conversation between Civera and film director Juan Uslé.
