Graham Greene (Berkhamstead, Reino Unido, 1904 - Vevey, Suiza, 1991) fue uno de los escritores ingleses más importantes del siglo xx. Tras licenciarse en Oxford en 1926, empezó su carrera profesional como subeditor de The Times y crítico literario y cinematográfico de The Spectator. Durante la segunda guerra mundial trabajó para el servicio secreto británico, fue destinado varios años a Sierra Leona y posteriormente viajó por todo el mundo como reportero, experiencias que le servirían de inspiración para sus historias. Es autor de una amplia y variada obra que comprende desde novelas de intriga hasta otras de corte más literario, muchas de las cuales han sido llevadas al cine.
