Phil LaMarche (New Hampshire, 1976) obtuvo, tras graduarse en la Universidad de Syracuse, la beca de investigación Ivan Klima de ficción en Praga y colaboró en el Máster de Escritura Creativa de la Universidad de Syracuse. Su obra ha aparecido en Esquire, en Ninth Letter y en la antología Roben Olen Butler Prize Story de 2005. Su relato "In the Tradition of My Family" fue llevado al cine por Now or Later Productions. Enseña escritura creativa en la Universidad de Syracuse y vive con su mujer en el estado de Nueva York. Juventud americana es su primera novela.
