Cyril M. Kornbluth (Nueva York, 1923) inició su carrera literaria a los quince años, publicando numerosos relatos en revistas y fanzines bajo los más diversos pseudónimos. Tras combatir en Europa durante la segunda guerra mundial y completar sus estudios universitarios, trabajó como periodista hasta 1951, año en que centró toda su actividad en la escritura. Destacó como cuentista y sus mejores novelas son fruto de la colaboración con Frederik Pohl, destacando Mercaderes del espacio y Búsqueda estelar. Murió de un ataque al corazón en 1958.
