María Xesús Méndez Álvarez (Lugo, 1969) actualmente é profesora de ensino secundario nun instituto de Ourense, tras exercer durante varios anos a docencia de lingua portuguesa na Escola Oficial de Idiomas desa mesma cidade. Ten realizado diversos traballos de tradución ao galego e ao portugués, e é coautora dos 3 volumes do "Manual de lingua galega. Teoría e práctica" (Xerais 2004), destinados ao ensino do idioma galego no Ciclo Superior das E.O.I., así como da "Ortografía da lingua galega" (Xerais 2004).
