René Kraus (1902-1947) fue un prestigioso escritor austriaco. Estudió en Berlín, Viena y París. Sirvió como secretario de prensa para el Ministro de Asuntos Exteriores alemán y después como consejero del departamento de prensa del Gobierno austríaco, desde donde finalmente fue asignado a Estados Unidos. Como escritor, publicó numerosas obras, entre las que destacan las biografías La vida privada y pública de Sócrates (1940), Winston Churchill: A Biography (1940) y The Men around Churchill (1941).
