Maeve Binchy nació en el condado de Dublín donde vivió y completó sus estudios en el University College. Trabajó de maestra y de periodista y posteriormente se dedicó a la literatura. Antes de fallecer en 2012, había escrito más de veinte novelas, todas de gran éxito. La mayoría de sus historias están ambientadas en Irlanda y tratan de las relaciones entre parejas, familias y amigos.
