Peter Sís (Brno, Checoslovaquia, 1949) es ilustrador, autor y cineasta. Comenzó su carrera en el cine al ganar el premio Golden Bear en el Festival de Cine de Berlín Occidental en 1980. Desde 1984 se dedica a los libros, con los que ha ganado siete veces el premio otorgado por The New York Times Book Review al mejor libro ilustrado del año. En 2012 obtuvo el premio Hans Christian Andersen, máximo reconocimiento mundial de la literatura infantil. Sexto Piso ha publicado también El coloquio de los pájaros (2012).
