IAN RANKIN (Cardenden, 1960) es uno de los escritores con más carácter de la novela negra actual y su personaje, John Rebus, uno de los policías más carismáticos del género. En 1987, inició con Nudos y cruces la aclamada serie de novelas ambientadas en su Escocia natal, que está siendo publicada por RBA. Con Asuntos internos dio comienzo a una nueva saga protagonizada por el inspector Malcolm Fox. Entre los numerosos galardones con los que se ha reconocido su talento destacan el Edgar Award, recibido en dos ocasiones por Resurrección y Black and Blue (novela que recibió también el Gold Dagger), el Grand Prix de Littérature Policière por En la oscuridad, el Premio Pepe Carvalho 2010 por toda su trayectoria y el X Premio RBA de Novela Policiaca 2016 por Perros salvajes. Asimismo, es caballero de la Orden del Imperio Británico.
