La recopilación de los CUENTOS de Hermann Hesse (1877-1962), diseminados durante mucho tiempo en revistas, volúmenes colectivos y antologías, puso de relieve las líneas de fuerza de un universo narrativo articulado por los mismos temas y obsesiones presentes en sus grandes novelas, coloreado por una inconfundible sensibilidad estetica y animado por los valores eticos y humanistas que caracterizan toda su obra.
