Friends is a motivating course for young secondary level pupils .
The material is designed to capture students'' interest through a variety of different contexts including humour , fiction , real life and cross cultural material .
Grammar and vocabulary are taught in three steps - presentation , comprehension and practice . Reading for pleasure is encouraged and a carefully graded programme develops reading skills.
Each student''s book contains eight sections with four lessons in it followed by a revision section . ''Reading corners'' and ''culture corners'' develop students'' skills . Each student''s book has a small play at the end .
