Thomas Hettche nació en Giessen (Alemania) en 1964, y actualmente vive entre Berlín y Suiza. Sus ensayos y novelas, entre los que se cuentan "El caso Arbogast", "Die Liebe der Váter", "Totenberg" y "Pfaueninsel", han obtenido un gran éxito y se han traducido a más de una docena de idiomas. Ha recibido numerosos premios por su obra, entre ellos el Premio Grinzane Cavour, el Wilhelm-Raabe-Preis, el Solothurner Literaturpreis y el Joseph-Breitbach-Preis. Con El hilo del corazón ha sido finalista del Premio Alemán del Libro 2020.
